Fylde Rugby Community Foundation is delighted to announce that the Beaverbrooks Charitable Trust have agreed to come on board as a Tier 1 Key Partner of the Foundation.
This significant level of sponsorship helps give the Foundation sustainability and the basis on which to be able to plan ahead to deliver our programmes and in particular will help towards providing rugby coaching, mentoring and support for vulnerable young people within our local community.
Anna Blackburn, Managing Director of Beaverbrooks and a Trustee of the Beaverbrooks Charitable Trust said “At Beaverbrooks, we’ve always wanted to make a positive difference. In fact, it’s our core purpose as a business; to enrich lives – which simply means making a positive difference to the world we live in, our colleagues, our customers and the wider community. Consequently, when we heard about the excellent work which the Fylde Rugby Community Foundation are doing we were only to happy to support them.”
Phill Mills, Head of Community Coaching for the Foundation said “We are very keen to get rugby into as many local schools as possible as rugby is such great team sport as it is suitable for boys and girls of all shapes and sizes and also very importantly as it has very meaningful values, these being Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship. Many local schools have reported that teachers don’t have sufficient knowledge or training for coaching rugby union and tag rugby for curriculum and extra-curricular sessions. With this very significant support from the Beaverbrooks Charitable Trust we will be able to subsidise and even offer free coaching sessions to schools and organisations which don’t have the budget to offer tag rugby or rugby sessions in their respective establishments. This enables us to engage disadvantaged children who wouldn’t otherwise get the chance to play rugby.”
