Once again, our Rugby and Multi-Sports Camps sponsored by Wooden Spoon, the “Children’s Charity of Rugby” have been a huge success over the summer. With a camp running every week throughout August, we have been host to over 400 children aged 5 to 16 from the Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre area.
The children have had the chance to experience playing rugby and learn the Core Values of the game. From kick tennis to rugby paintball, children have enjoyed partaking in many different fun sports, games, and activities.
Head of Community Coaching for the foundation, Phill Mills, said: “It has been fantastic to see the number of children who have never played or experienced any rugby attend our summer camps. In addition to the support of Wooden Spoon we have also been working closely with Fylde Council on the Holiday Activities and Food programme, which has meant that we have been able to provide even more children from a variety of backgrounds with healthy meals throughout the day along with sporting activities.”
Following the Rugby and Multi-Sport camps a few children have then joined the Minis and Juniors section at Fylde RUFC through our Rugby Pathway programme, sponsored by Porsche Centre Preston, which we hope creates a lifelong link to participation in the sport.
