Fylde Rugby Community Foundation is delighted to announce that Next Generation Travel, the UK’s leading educational travel specialist, has agreed a three year deal to sponsor all the Foundation’s schools programmes in Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre*

These programmes include both curriculum sessions and after school clubs for primary and secondary schools and are available to boys and girls. The Foundation’s primary school sessions focus on coaching pupils the basic skills of tag rugby. The secondary school specialised coaching sessions provide more in-depth coaching focusing on team, individual skills and tactics

All our school programmes are built around Rugby Union’s core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline, and Sportsmanship and all the school programmes also offer pathways to local rugby clubs for pupils to enjoy the game of rugby outside of school.

Phill Mills, Head of Community Coaching for the Foundation said: “Our ambition is to be able to provide access to Rugby Union through removing barriers to participation so that more young people have healthy and positive physical and social interactions which should also lead to wider societal benefits from their being involved in a team sport with meaningful values. The support of Next Generation Travel enables us to accelerate the achievement of our ambition and in particular for pupils from vulnerable and disadvantaged backgrounds.”

Maria Whiteman, Managing Director of Next Generation Travel, said “We are delighted to be able to sponsor the Foundation’s schools programmes as we recognise the huge value, in terms of health, well-being and character building that sports like Rugby Union bring to young people. We already work directly with many schools in Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre who book their UK and overseas educational tours with us so it is wonderful to be able to help many of them gain access to this great initiative.”
