Porsche Centre Preston Renews Sponsorship of The Rugby Pathway Programme

Porsche Centre Sponsorship renewal

The Fylde Rugby Community Foundation provides a vast number of rugby programmes within schools and the community and from these programmes an interest in rugby may be sparked from a young participant but sometimes there are barriers which prevent young people being able to join a rugby club. For example, they may not be able to afford transport or the necessary kit or they may lack the confidence to take that first step to join a rugby club.

Thanks to the ongoing support from Porsche Centre Preston, The Rugby Pathway Programme provides the necessary assistance for up to 15 young people each year with the opportunity to join a rugby club. This great programme provides a route to lifelong sporting participation by breaking down barriers which prevent young people from joining a rugby club. In addition to helping with practical measures such as transport and kit, the beneficiaries are supported by the Foundation’s Community Rugby Coaches who ensure a smooth introduction to relevant age group teams.

Phill Mills, Foundation Manager, said: “In difficult times and with the cost-of-living increases, it is great that we can continue to provide this provision for young people to continue to engage in sport and in particular the game of rugby. Porsche Centre Preston has made a huge difference to many young people by supporting this great programme for a further year.”

Paul Bowker, chief executive of Bowker Motor Group, owners of Porsche Centre Preston, said: “Porsche Centre Preston has supported The Fylde Rugby Community Foundation’s Rugby Pathway Programme since 2021. In a short time, we’ve seen some great initiatives. From rugby festivals to walking rugby and from wooden spoon tag rugby to charity bike rides; the foundation has captured the imagination of hundreds of local rugby fans. We are proud to support the Foundation.”
