The DJ Sidebottom / Glasdon Charitable Programme has provided sponsorship to support the delivery of the Blackpool Primary School Tag Rugby Programme, which will be delivered by The Fylde Rugby Community Foundation. The programme, which will engage 10 primary schools from across Blackpool, will provide access to specialist rugby coaching and teach children meaningful core values of rugby, including Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline, and Sportsmanship.
Over a 10-week period, children of various year groups from 10 primary schools in Blackpool will have the opportunity to participate in tag rugby activities, including tag rugby games and new evasion skills. Each week, the programme will focus on one of the rugby core values to help children develop their teamwork, self-esteem, confidence, and strategic thinking.
“We are pleased to lend our support to deliver the Blackpool School Tag Rugby Programme and to help young players from our local community develop and grow,” said Joy Kavanagh of The DJ Sidebottom / Glasdon Charitable Programme.
“We are delighted to have the support of The DJ Sidebottom / Glasdon Charitable Programme in delivering this initiative,” remarked Phill Mills, Foundation Manager for The Fylde Rugby Community Foundation. “Our primary goal is to offer Blackpool’s children access to high-quality tag rugby coaching that is both enjoyable and educational. We seek to instil in them the fundamental values of rugby, which translate into essential life skills, in a fun and interactive style. We are confident that this programme will make a positive impact on the physical and social growth of Blackpool’s children.”
At the end of the programme, The Fylde Rugby Community Foundation will arrange a tag rugby festival, where the 10 schools can take part in fun tag rugby matches at Fylde Rugby Club during the Summer Term, focusing on engaging children through the sport and core values.
The sponsorship from The DJ Sidebottom / Glasdon Charitable Programme will enable The Fylde Rugby Community Foundation to deliver the Blackpool Primary School Tag Rugby Programme and make a positive impact on the physical and personal development of children in Blackpool.
