FYLDE RUGBY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION CELEBRATES SUMMER CAMPS SUCCESS

As we wrap up another successful Rugby and Multi-Sports Camp, generously sponsored by Wooden Spoon, the “Children’s Charity of Rugby,” we are thrilled to share the highlights of our 4 week summer camps!

Over the course of the 4 weeks throughout July/August, between both Fylde Rugby Club and Garstang Rugby Club we had the privilege of hosting over 190 children between the ages of 5 and 11, hailing from various areas in Blackpool, Fylde, and Wyre. With thanks to the HAF scheme we was able to help over 100 children attend our camps.

The Fylde Rugby Community Foundation are proud to say this camp was our most varied yet, and we will continue to provide such a wide range of activities and games as we continue. This summer the children enjoyed a huge selection to keep them busy, which included:

Giant Inflatables, Water Sports, Nerf Gun Wars, Plant/Flower Planting, Tag rugby, Dodgeball, Capture the flag, Cops and robbers, Rugby Paintball, Cricket, Rounders, Football, Swedish Longball, Talent Show, dancing and so much more!

During this time, the young participants not only had the opportunity to engage in rugby and sports but had the chance to learn the core values that underpin this great sport. Thanks to the support and generosity of Wooden Spoon, we were able to grant a further 60 children a free place on our camp which included breakfast and a hot lunch.

Amelia Bullock (Fylde Rugby Club Camps), our Programme Lead, shared her excitement: “Once again, it has been fantastic to see the number of children enjoying and attending our summer camp,  They’ve taken part in so many different games and activities, keeping them constantly busy. It’s great to see children from all different backgrounds come and experience rugby and many other sports for the first time, and I cannot wait for our next Camp!”.

Ben Turner (Garstang Rugby Club Camps), our Programme Lead, shared his excitement: “The Summer Camps at Garstang RFC went very well. It was great to see children spend their summer with us. Watching them grow, better their sporting skills, make friends and most of all, laughing and having the best time doing it. We can’t wait for the next Camps already!”.

The Fylde Rugby Foundation wants to send another huge thanks to everyone that attended.
