The Fylde Rugby Community Foundation delivered another fantastic Easter holiday programme, engaging hundreds of children across two weeks of sport, fun, and development at both Garstang RUFC and Fylde RFC. With over 500 places filled, the Foundation’s camps continue to be a favourite among families in the area. The majority of the 500 places were filled with HAF, Wooden Spoon and The Forward Pass Scheme.
Multi-Sports Camps – Garstang RUFC & Fylde RFC
Running throughout both weeks of the Easter break, the Multi-Sports Camps at Garstang RUFC and Fylde RFC offered children a vibrant and varied programme designed to promote physical activity, teamwork, and enjoyment.
Each day saw a packed schedule of activities including football, tag rugby, dodgeball, cricket, rounders, inflatables, and team challenges. All delivered by the Foundation’s qualified, energetic coaches.
At Garstang, the rural setting provided the perfect backdrop for outdoor fun and skill-building, while Fylde RFC offered a spacious facility ideal for a wide range of sporting activities. Across both venues, the focus remained on inclusivity, confidence-building, and giving every child a chance to shine. Regardless of sporting background.
Feedback from parents was overwhelmingly positive.
A Garstang parent shared:
“We have tried lots of camps in the past, but this is the only one my son has enjoyed and wanted to come back to. He was gutted it had to end!”
A Fylde parent said:
“After attending another local camp we found the welcoming to The Fylde Rugby Community Foundation camp so much better. The coaches are fun, energetic and engaging with the children as soon as they walk through the door at 8.30am!”
Elite Rugby Player Camp – Fylde RFC
In the second week, the Foundation hosted a three-day Elite Rugby Player Development Camp at Fylde RFC, tailored specifically for aspiring young rugby players looking to take their game to the next level.
Led by experienced coaches, including Fylde RFC 1st Team Players, the camp focused on:
• Technical skill development (passing, tackling, kicking)
• Game understanding and decision-making
• Strength and conditioning appropriate for youth players
• Position-specific workshops
• Team-building and leadership exercises
Players were challenged in a high-performance environment that supported both individual growth and team cohesion. The camp attracted talented young athletes from across the region, showcasing the Foundation’s commitment to long-term player development.
Looking Ahead
Amelia Summersgill-Smith, Programme Lead, reflected on the programme’s success:
“We’re so proud to have provided such a positive and inclusive experience this Easter. Whether it was a child attending their first-ever sports camp or a young athlete preparing for competitive rugby, our aim is always the same — to inspire, support, and engage through sport.”
With summer fast approaching, the Foundation is already planning its next round of camps and initiatives. For more information and to stay updated on future events follow the Foundation on social media.
