We are now able to provide primary schools with an opportunity to participate in our Rugby Reading Champions Programme, working with youngsters who would benefit from one to one and small group work. The programme is designed to associate reading with sport and in particular Rugby Union through 60-minute reading sessions and 60-minute coaching and fun games. The provision of books and reading literature (which is included as part of this programme) for the children to continue to use after the programme is an extremely important aspect and is aimed at sustaining their long term development.
National Literacy Trust
Working with the National Literacy Trust, we have developed a programme which as well as developing their reading skills also helps develop children’s teamwork and communication skills (both highly transferable life skills) and can lead to enhanced confidence and self-esteem as well as having the obvious physical benefits of being involved in an active team sport with meaningful values.
