The Fylde Rugby Community Foundation is proud to announce the launch of the LGT Wealth Management Rugby Pathway Programme, an initiative designed to break down financial barriers and provide young people from disadvantaged backgrounds with the opportunity to join their local rugby clubs.
The Fylde Rugby Pathway Programme will support up 10 beneficiaries, connecting children from our schools, educational programmes, and holiday camps with Fylde RFC. By removing financial and practical obstacles, the programme ensures that every child has the chance to enjoy the physical, social, and emotional benefits of playing rugby.
This initiative goes far beyond providing access to sport. It is about building confidence, teamwork, and offering young people the opportunity to be part of a community that values inclusion, resilience, and personal growth.
What the programme offers:
• 1 Year Free Junior Membership provided in kind by Fylde Rugby Club for Mini and Junior age groups
• Transition Coaching Support: 2–3 personalised sessions with our community sports coaches to help children integrate smoothly into their new teams.
• Essential Rugby Kit: Club playing top, boots, and any other equipment needed to take part.
• Travel Assistance: Support to ensure transportation challenges do not prevent participation.
Over the past three years, 135 young people have already benefitted from this initiative. Many of these children would otherwise never have had the chance to join a team sport, and the impact has been transformative. Participants have gained confidence, developed friendships, learned resilience, and built healthier lifestyles both on and off the pitch.
Foundation Director, Phill Mills, said:
“This programme is about so much more than rugby. It’s about giving young people a sense of belonging in a team sport and the opportunity to be part of something that can have a huge impact on their future. Thanks to the support of LGT Wealth Management, we are able to continue breaking down barriers and making rugby accessible to every child who wants to play.”
The Foundation is incredibly grateful to LGT Wealth Management for their support, which will ensure more young people across the Fylde Coast can benefit from the power of sport.
We look forward to progressing with this partnership and building on the programme’s success, inspiring the next generation of players both on and off the field.
