The Fylde Rugby Community Foundation is pleased to announce the continued support of Blackpool & District Soroptimists as the official supporters of the Blackpool and District Soroptimists Girls Rugby Secondary School Programme.
Following the success of the programme, this ongoing partnership will continue to introduce young girls across Blackpool to rugby, helping to break down barriers to participation and empowering them through sport and physical activity.
The programme provides opportunities for Year 7 girls from local secondary schools to take part in structured rugby sessions designed to build confidence, develop teamwork skills, and inspire a lifelong enjoyment of sport. A key focus remains creating a clear and accessible pathway into community rugby, with links to established girls’ sections at Fleetwood and Fylde Rugby Clubs, supporting long-term involvement in the game.
Blackpool & District Soroptimists, a women’s organisation committed to supporting and empowering women and girls, recognise the importance of providing inclusive opportunities—particularly for those who may face additional barriers to participation. Their continued backing ensures that more girls can access sport in a safe, supportive and encouraging environment.
Soroptimist International operates on a global scale, working to transform the lives of women and girls through education, empowerment and opportunity. With thousands of members across the world, their local support in Blackpool continues to make a meaningful difference within the community.

“It’s fantastic to see this programme continue to grow with the support of Blackpool & District Soroptimists. We’re passionate about creating positive first experiences in sport, and this partnership helps us do exactly that.”
The continuation of the Blackpool SI Girls Rugby Secondary School Programme represents an ongoing commitment to increasing inclusivity in sport and ensuring that girls from all backgrounds have the opportunity to take part, develop and thrive.
The Fylde Rugby Community Foundation would like to extend a sincere thank you to Blackpool & District Soroptimists for their continued support and dedication to empowering young girls across the Fylde Coast.
