This role combines practical coaching experience with a fully supported Youth Worker Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship, providing the perfect pathway for anyone looking to build a rewarding career in sport, youth work, and community development.

Make a Difference Through Sport

As an Apprentice Community Sports Coach & Youth Worker, you’ll play a vital role in delivering and supporting our growing range of community, school, and youth programmes across Fylde, Wyre, and Blackpool.

Working alongside experienced coaches and youth workers, you’ll help inspire young people, encourage active lifestyles, and create positive experiences through sport and community engagement.

Whether you’re delivering rugby sessions in schools, supporting community sports camps, or helping to run youth club activities, every day will bring new opportunities to develop your skills while making a genuine impact.

  • Helping deliver community outreach projects and engagement initiatives.
  • Facilitating inclusive youth work sessions and activities.
  • Supporting the planning, preparation, and evaluation of programmes.
  • Promoting participation, inclusion, and enjoyment in all activities.
  • Ensuring a safe and supportive environment through safeguarding and health and safety best practice.
  • Representing the Foundation at community events and building relationships with local organisations.

Develop Your Career with a Degree Apprenticeship

Alongside your practical experience, you’ll complete a Level 6 Youth Worker Degree Apprenticeship, a three-year programme designed to develop the next generation of youth and community professionals.

You’ll attend weekly lectures at Burnley Campus while gaining real-world experience through your work with the Foundation.

The programme covers key areas including:

  • Youth development and engagement
  • Safeguarding and child protection
  • Communication and mentoring skills
  • Project management
  • Community development
  • Leadership and professional practice

You’ll also have opportunities to gain additional certifications, including First Aid, Safeguarding, Risk Assessment, and Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness training.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Commitment to personal and professional development.
  • Enthusiasm for working with children and young people.

No previous coaching qualifications are required, and while access to transport would be beneficial for travelling between venues, it is not essential when starting the role.
