While schools may have been out for October Half Term, there was no shortage of action, energy, and excitement at the Fylde Rugby Community Foundation. Across the week, we delivered an incredible programme of activities. From our Elite Rugby Player Development Camps to our Kids Rugby & Multi-Sports Camps, providing opportunities for young people of all abilities to stay active, develop skills, and have fun.
Elite Rugby Player Development Camps
The Foundation’s Elite Rugby Player Development Camp saw talented young athletes take to the field across three venues. Beginning at Garstang RUFC, moving to Fleetwood RUFC, and finishing the week at Fylde RFC. Each session provided high-quality coaching designed to develop core rugby skills, game understanding, and teamwork in a fun and challenging environment.
With 64 places filled across the three venues, it was fantastic to see so many dedicated young players investing in their development and showing real passion for the game.
Ben Turner, Programme Lead for the Foundation, said:
“It was brilliant to see such strong engagement across the sites. The players showed great commitment, effort and attitude throughout the week, and it’s encouraging to see so much young talent developing across our local clubs.”

Kids Rugby & Multi-Sports Camps
Meanwhile, our Kids Rugby & Multi-Sports Camps offered something for everyone. From energetic sports sessions and team games to exciting activities, creative arts and crafts, and even a fancy dress Halloween party to end the week on a high!
The energy, enthusiasm, and smiles from the children made it a truly special week. In total, 119 placeswere filled, with an incredible 60 of those supported by Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby. We’d like to say a huge thank you to Wooden Spoon for helping us make these camps accessible to more families in our community.
Amelia Summersgill-Smith, Programme Lead, shared:
“Each day brought something different, and the children were absolutely buzzing with excitement. From rugby and sports to crafts and Halloween fun, it was amazing to see so many happy faces enjoying an active and creative week.”
