1,539 Reasons to Celebrate an Incredible Summer of Sport

Four weeks, three venues and an incredible 1,539 camp places filled. This summer has been one to remember for Fylde Rugby Community Foundation.

Across Fylde, Garstang and Fleetwood, children spent their school holidays getting active, trying new sports, building confidence, making friends and creating brilliant memories through our Kids’ Rugby and Multi-Sports Camps.

The energy and attendance across all three venues were fantastic, with:

  • 1,115 places filled at Fylde, including 478 paid places, 397 HAF places and 240 places sponsored by Wooden Spoon
  • 289 places filled at Garstang, including 130 paid places and 159 HAF places
  • 135 places filled at Fleetwood, including 30 paid places and 105 HAF places

In total, the Foundation provided 638 paid places, 661 HAF places and 240 Wooden Spoon-sponsored places across the four-week programme.

The incredible response from families allowed us to deliver four action-packed weeks across the Fylde Coast. From rugby and multi-sports to games, challenges and plenty of fun, each camp gave children the opportunity to get involved, learn something new and enjoy an active school holiday.

A huge thank you must go to our camp sponsor, Wooden Spoon, whose generous support enabled us to provide 240 sponsored places at Fylde for children who may not ordinarily have been able to attend.

As the children’s charity of rugby, Wooden Spoon shares our belief that every child should have the opportunity to enjoy sport, make friends and experience the confidence and sense of belonging that being part of a camp can bring. Its support played an important role in helping us create such a successful and inclusive summer.

Alongside this, 661 HAF places were provided across our three venues, helping eligible children enjoy structured activities, healthy food and opportunities to stay active during the school holidays.

Amelia Summersgill-Smith, Programme Lead at Fylde Rugby Community Foundation, said:

“What an incredible summer it has been. Filling 1,539 places across Fylde, Garstang and Fleetwood is a fantastic achievement and shows just how much demand there is for fun, active and affordable holiday provision within our communities.

“We’re extremely grateful to Wooden Spoon for sponsoring 240 places at Fylde and helping us provide opportunities for children who may not otherwise have been able to join us. Their continued support makes a genuine difference to local families.

“We would also like to thank every parent and carer who booked with us and all the children who brought so much energy and enthusiasm to every camp. They helped us create a fantastic atmosphere across all three venues.”

A summer of this scale would not have been possible without the incredible hard work of our coaching and management team at Fylde Rugby Community Foundation.

Throughout all four weeks, the team worked tirelessly to keep every camp fun, energetic and varied, creating an exciting programme that kept children engaged and gave them something new to enjoy each day.

We would also like to thank our brilliant volunteers who supported the delivery of the camps. Their time, enthusiasm and willingness to get involved provided valuable support to our coaches and helped everything run smoothly across the summer.

From first-time rugby players discovering a new sport to returning campers reuniting with friends, every week brought something different. The enthusiasm of the children, support of their families and dedication of everyone involved helped us deliver the best summer possible across all three venues.

To everyone who booked with us and every child who joined a game, tried a new activity or encouraged someone else, thank you for making summer 2026 such a huge success.

We may have only just packed away the summer camp equipment, but preparations are already underway for our October Half Term Kids’ Rugby and Multi-Sports Camps. Keep an eye on our pages for booking details revealed this week!
